Design, Research, Management and Teaching

Chantelle Baistow

I am devoted to integrating ceramics with digital production, experimental design, new materials, and consolidating life experiences and interests with my contemporary design practice.

My past research experience has been as part of a collaborative team of designers, web developers and clients. The topics and methods have included: survey data collection, analysis and representation of student’s online course booking system usage; website architecture and user experience workshops for a car share company to engage its members; and strategy research, user flow charts and timelines for complex campaigns.

My current research interest is in developing new experimental design processes, using scientific theories to design and develop objects. The proposal is to explore natural selection in design; an examination of the evolution of the ceramic tableware through the lens of natural selection, using computer models and 3D printing technologies to produce results.
