Oliver Van Herpt is an object designer with an interest in 3D printing. He has printed in wax and ceramics. His practice is mostly beautifully executed material experimentations that touch on issues of sustainability and authorship.

Introducing elements of randomness

This project makes fragile ceramic objects while experimenting with randomness in the precise repeating action of the 3D printing machine. In an attempt to address the cold clinical nature of 3D printing Van Herpt has introduced a touch of randomness to bring back the human touch to his work. The outcome to this poetic approach is stunning, it is a simplistic method of humanising a mechanised outcome.
